Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. He is the daughter of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. He is the son of his Nigerian father and a Caucasian woman. The father of his is Nigerian while his mother is an American of caucasian descent. He has graduated from Sanderson High School in 2010 He then attended Wake Forest University, where earned a bachelor's degree from the Department of Economics in 2015. James gained fame when he made his on-screen first appearance as a reality star on The Bachelorette. In the year 2020, he was selected to be the next bachelor for The Bachelor's season 25, making him the first African American male lead which was later aired in 2021. James's physique, appearance and personality made him a good fit for the part. The show ended when he picked Rachael Krkconnell to pursue an affair with her. He teamed up with the famous dancer Arnold to take part in season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James as well as Arnold finished 12th.
